KUCHING, Oct 2: Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers’ Association (Sheda) raised RM80,000 for Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society (SCCS).
According to Sheda in a statement today, the sum was raised from more than 150 supporters during the GoBald Satellite Shave which was held during Sheda Property Expo at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on Saturday (Oct 1).
Speaking during the event, Sheda Property Expo 2022 organising chairman Ir. John Yong Lock Ping said it was a privilege for Sheda to be able to provide a platform for members of the community to combine resources for a charitable cause.
Yong also thanks all exhibitors, Sheda members and other companies which participated in making the expo a success.
The event was also supported by the Ministry of Public Health, Housing and Local Government Sarawak (MPHLG), the Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia (CIDB) and Centre of Technical Excellence Sarawak (Centexs).
Among those who volunteered to go bald were Sheda Assistant Secretary-General, Cr. Iskandar Sharkawi, Sheda Advisor Ir Clarence Chieng and Sheda Bintulu Branch Treasurer Georg Liang.
Meanwhile, Yong said the number of visitors, inquiries and bookings made over the weekend at the expo confirms that Sarawakians are deciding to purchase property now.
He urged potential purchasers who have not yet secured their preferred choice to commit before prices increase.
He added, Sheda also places confidence in the Sarawak government to implement measures which will enable private developers to deliver more affordable housing to meet market demand. — DayakDaily
