KUCHING, July 1: Sarawak recorded the highest number of completed dilapidated school rebuilding projects in the country since the start of 2025, with 25 projects completed, according to the Ministry of Education (MOE).
In a TVS report, the ministry said in a written reply published on the Parliament portal today that 64 dilapidated school rebuilding projects had been completed nationwide since the beginning of 2025.
The written reply was in response to a question from Jerai MP Sabri Azit who sought details on the number of dilapidated school rebuilding projects completed nationwide between 2025 and the third quarter of 2026.
Of the total, 48 projects were completed throughout 2025 across 13 States, including 17 in Sarawak, followed by 10 in Sabah.
A further 16 projects in seven States were completed as of the second quarter of 2026, with Sarawak again recording the highest number at eight projects, while Pahang and Perak each completed two.
The ministry also revealed that since 2016 until June 2026, the federal government had approved 1,250 dilapidated school rebuilding projects nationwide involving an allocation of RM13.8 billion.
Of the total approved projects, 813 have been completed, while 173 are under construction and another 264 remain at the pre-construction stage — DayakDaily
