KUCHING, Feb 13: Sarawak recorded a total of 152 new positive Covid-19 cases today, as the Pasai Cluster contributed to almost half of the figures.
According to the latest report from the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) today, the Pasai Cluster registered a total of 73 new positive cases namely in Sibu, Subis, Kapit, Song and Dalat.
“Sibu remains with the most number of cases today with a total of 45 new cases recorded, followed by Subis (33), Kapit (23), Julau (11), Song (10), Bintulu (eight), Miri (eight), Beluru (four), Kuching (three), two each for Dalat and Samarahan, and one each for Bau, Belaga, and Meradong, bringing the total cumulative numbers of Covid-19 cases in the state to 6,425 cases,” it said.
For Sibu, a total of 19 cases reported today involved the Pasai Cluster, followed by 15 cases from active case detection (ACD) to Covid-19 patients, and 11 other cases are from voluntary screening tests.
In Subis, all 33 cases were derived from the Pasai Cluster involving 10 Sarawakian and 23 foreigners (Indonesian).
In Kapit, the Pasai Cluster also contributed a total of 10 cases, followed by 10 other cases from ACD to Covid-19 patients, two cases from symptomatic screening tests and one case involving medical personnel.
For Julau, the 10 cases recorded are from ACD to Covid-19 patients, and one case involved the Nanga Lijan Cluster, while Song also recorded a total of 10 cases also involving the Pasai Cluster.
In Bintulu, four of the cases are reported from ACD to Covid-19 patients, two cases from Jun Heng Cluster, and another two cases from symptomatic screening tests.
In Miri, four of the cases reported are from ACD to Covid-19 patients, three cases involving medical personnel and one case from symptomatic screening test.
For Beluru, three cases were reported involving the Seruas Cluster and one case involving ACD to Covid-19 patients which was classified as an Import C case.
In Kuching, one case was reported involving a local individual returning from a high risk area and was categorised as Import B case, followed by one case from ACD to Covid-19 patients and one other case involving symptomatic screening test.
In Dalat, one case involved the Pasai Cluster and another one was detected from ACD to Covid-19 patients in the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) area.
For Samarahan, one case involved a symptomatic screening test and one other case was classified as an Import B case, involving a local individual returning from a high risk area (Negeri Sembilan).
Other district that recorded only one case are namely in Bau, which involved ACD to Covid-19 patients, in Belaga, involving individual returning from high risk area and was classified as Import C case after being infected in Sibu, and in Meradong, involving one individual detected from ACD to Covid-19 patients. -DayakDaily
