KUCHING, July 8: AirBorneo passengers can expect more than just a flight when the State-owned carrier begins jet operations on July 20, with Sarawak laksa among the local dishes set to be served as part of its complimentary onboard meals.
The airline today unveiled its inaugural inflight menu, featuring a selection of Sarawak-inspired dishes alongside Western and Asian options as part of its premium full-service offering.
AirBorneo chief executive officer Megat Ardian Wira Mohd Aminuddin said the onboard dining experience is designed to reflect the airline’s identity as a proud ambassador of Borneo’s culture.
“Business class passengers will have a choice of three curated main meals, including Sarawak laksa and daging gulai kawah under its Signature Taste of Borneo selection, as well as Western and Asian dishes.
“The meal service also includes an appetiser, dessert, welcome drink and snacks on domestic flights,” he said during AirBorneo’s media roundtable here today.
Economy class travellers can choose between two main meal options, featuring local favourites such as dry Sarawak laksa and nasi lemak dabai, alongside Western and Asian selections.
Meals will be served in sustainable, leak-proof and oven-safe meal boxes, accompanied by an appetiser, dessert, welcome drink and snack.
“We are a proud ambassador of Borneo’s culture,” he said adding that the airline aims to bring Sarawak’s identity into the passenger experience.
He said AirBorneo wants to go beyond being merely customer-oriented and instead become “customer-obsessed” by continuously improving passengers’ travel experience.
The airline’s first commercial jet flights will operate between Kuching and Kuala Lumpur with two daily return services, and between Kuching and Singapore with one daily return service.
AirBorneo previously announced its all-in Sarawak Ku Sayang one-way economy fare starting from RM375 between Kuching and Kuala Lumpur, which includes airport taxes, complimentary seat selection, a meal, 10kg cabin baggage allowance and 23kg checked baggage.
The newly unveiled inflight menu gives passengers a first look at what they can expect on board when the airline’s jet operations take off later this month. — DayakDaily
