KUCHING, Sept 7: While political pundit Dato Peter Minos’ personal guess is that the Sarawak Election would be held either in November this year or February next year, he stressed that the final decision on the timing rests with Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari.

He said this in a statement in response to questions about when the next State election would be held, to which he responded, “As if I can tell.”

“All of us can only make an intelligent guess, as only our Premier has an idea when the poll will be.

“My guess will be in coming November or in February next year, while many say it will be in November or slightly later, towards the end of November or early December,” he said.

He added that there are some indicators that the State election will take place in November, such as reports circulating that all government projects must be completed or at least tendered out by November or December and the Sarawakku Sayang programme being held Statewide, which he described as a gathering where the Premier announces something to the public.

Minos also noted that political parties are quietly searching for new candidates, with the process kept discreet to avoid sabotage.

“Both the timing for the State election and the names of the candidates are the prerogatives of the Premier to disclose. And nobody else. The rest of us in GPS can only speculate and guess. That is all.” — DayakDaily
