KUCHING, Sept 7: The Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) has reminded Pan Borneo Highway users not to make U-turns at locations where they are prohibited.
According to a post on the department’s Facebook page, this followed a recent incident in which a road user was seen making a U-turn at an unauthorised part of the Pan Borneo Highway.
“Obey road signs and use the designated U-turn facilities provided.
“Responsible behaviour and compliance with traffic regulations are essential for the safety of all road users,” it said.
The incident was posted on Facebook with the account name ‘Miri Edition’ on Sunday (Sept 6).
In it, the driver of the Toyota Hilux—which was also carrying two individuals in the rear cargo bed—was seen making a U-turn at a non-designated part of the highway.
“My apologies to the owner of the Toyota Hilux for the prolonged honking. You made a U-turn at an unauthorised location, endangering other users of the Pan Borneo Highway. You even had two ‘passengers’ riding in the rear cargo bed,” said the post.
The post added that it will report the incident to the Road Transport Department (JPJ). — DayakDaily
