Police raid nabs six for drug offences at Stutong Resettlement Scheme

KUCHING, Aug 26: Six men, aged between 25-40 and with drug related criminal records, were detained by police after a raid at a house at Stutong Resettlement Scheme here today.

Two of the six were arrested in the car garage in front of the house for suspected drug dealing.

An initial body search of the two suspects did not reveal any drugs. However, the police found a tin container containing drugs on the table during a search of the house.


Inside the tin container, there were two plastic packets containing crystal-like substances weighing 6.70 grammes and suspected to be ‘syabu’.

The two suspects will be investigated under Section 39 (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

In the same raid, the police also arrested four other suspects who came to house. They were believed to have come to get drug supplies.

All six suspects were brought to the Kuching police headquarters (IPK) for urine tests. All six tested positive for amphetamine/methamphetamine.

They will be investigated under Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

The case is now being investigated under Section 39A (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and, if convicted, the suspects are liable for imprisonment of not less than 2 years but not more than 5 years and shall also face whipping of not not less than 3 strokes but not more than 9 strokes. — DayakDaily
