SARATOK, Aug 27: Sarawak is allocating nearly RM70 million annually to accelerate the surveying of Native Customary Rights (NCR) land across the State, covering both surveying costs and additional manpower for the Land and Survey Department (JTS).
Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Datuk Len Talif Salleh said nearly RM40 million is allocated each year to cover the cost of surveying NCR land under Sections 6 and 18 of the Sarawak Land Code (SLC).
“The Sarawak government’s commitment to NCR land cannot be disputed, as the State government provides nearly RM40 million annually to cover surveying costs.
“In addition, the State government provides another RM30 million to increase the number of JTS personnel to carry out surveying work throughout Sarawak.
“This means a total of RM70 million is provided annually for the surveying of NCR land under Sections 6 and 18,” he said, as reported by TVS.
Len Talif highlighted this after the presentation of Section 18 SLC land title documents to residents of Kampung Triso Darat traditional village in Betong and the Krian area in Saratok today.
Meanwhile, 429 NCR landowners in the Krian area received their respective land title documents, covering a combined area of 679.61 hectares.
The recipients comprised three main projects. Sungai Krian and Sungai Kabo accounted for 264 recipients covering 330.48 hectares, while Kampung Sepuk involved another 44 recipients across 37.34 hectares.
Another 121 recipients from the Entebu-Selambong project received titles covering 311.79 hectares.
Len Talif said the ongoing efforts were expected to further empower the socio-economic development of NCR landowners and improve their living standards in the affected areas. — DayakDaily
