KUCHING, April 17: Driving over the speed limit, making illegal U-turns at a P-Turn, driving against the flow, and exiting the intersection recklessly are among the offences committed along the Pan Borneo Highway road.

According to Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak deputy director (infrastructure) Cassidy Morris, these problems arose during the adjustment period for road users now that the road condition has improved.

“Some drivers are probably not aware that they are driving beyond the speed limit, which is 90km per hour.

“Since Pan Borneo Highway has become a proper road now, we do not want road users to drive over the speed limit, which can cause accidents,” he told reporters after launching the Road Safety Campaign in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri at Moyan Square junction today.

Meanwhile, on the Road Safety Campaign, Cassidy said it would also be held at other locations to educate road users about road safety.

He also said that the campaign would be organised continuously, not only during Hari Raya but also during every festive season.

The campaign was jointly organised by JKR Sarawak and WPC02 contractor, SaraWorks. During the campaign, 300 goodie bags which contained leaflets about road safety, were handed over to road users. — DayakDaily
