PANTU, Aug 26: The construction of the 42-kilometre Muding-Tuba-Mentu Road is among 13 new projects worth an estimated RM500 million proposed to boost development in Pantu District.
Deputy Minister for Tourism and Creative Industry Datuk Snowdan Lawan said the projects involved allocations from the Sri Aman Development Agency (SADA), Sri Aman District Council (MDSA) and various government agencies.
He said the Muding-Tuba-Mentu Road, being implemented by the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) and the Public Works Department (JKR), was one of the major projects, with an estimated cost of RM265.5 million.
“Other proposed projects include the Menangkin/Menuang Road project costing RM77.5 million, Batang Strap-Sapak-Isu-Munggu Ubah project at RM60.3 million, the Sebemban/Gayau Road project worth RM38.2 million, which has already been tendered, and the Munggu Ubah Road project costing RM35.8 million, which is expected to be completed in May 2027,” he said as reported by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas).
He said this when officiating the Randau Ruai Programme with YB Datuk Snowdan Lawan at Rumah Augustine Entika, Rapak Tepus, here on Tuesday (Aug 25).
The Balai Ringin assemblyman said the other proposed projects included the construction of the Pantu Jetty, costing RM2.3 million, by JKR; the Pantu drainage project worth RM6 million by the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID); and the Abok and Kampung Limau farm roads costing RM782,000 and RM1.42 million respectively through SADA and the Department of Agriculture.
Also proposed are the construction of a road to Wong Jaban @ Jaong Pantu at a cost of RM4.625 million; a road to Wong Beranggong @ Abok costing RM1.3 million through SADA and MDSA; the Bukit Kukuk farm road at Sungai Merah worth RM894,000; and the initial development of the site for the new Pantu District Office, estimated at RM5 million.
“Therefore, I hope all these proposals, as well as projects already being implemented, will have a significant impact on the development of Pantu District, particularly in improving basic infrastructure, road connectivity and the well-being of rural communities,” he added.
At the same programme, Snowdan also announced a RM15,000 Minor Rural Project (MRP) allocation for the Rapak Tepus Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), together with RM5,000 for its Women’s Bureau. — DayakDaily
