KUCHING, Sept 13: Bridgette Astra Donald has retained the presidency of the Sarawak Dayak Cultural Association (SDCA) for the 2026–2028 term, continuing in the role she has held since the association was established in September 2025.
Her second term will run for three years, with SDCA unveiling its latest committee line-up as it enters the new term.
Bridgette said the renewed mandate carried significant responsibility as the association sought to build on its work during its first year.
“SDCA is still a young organisation, but within a short period, we have begun establishing our presence through various cultural programmes, professional development initiatives, youth and community engagement, as well as collaborations with various stakeholders,” she said in a press release today.
For the 2026–2028 term, she said SDCA would focus on youth development, women’s leadership, cultural education and preservation, digitalisation, talent development, as well as strategic partnerships across the public, corporate, media and academic sectors.
She also emphasised the importance of equipping the younger generation to confidently serve as ambassadors of Dayak culture nationally and internationally.
To strengthen its institutional governance, SDCA has appointed Gerald Empaling as Legal Advisor and Datuk Dr Neilson Ilan Mersat as Governance Advisor for the new term.
