Over 70,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine administered in Sarawak in a single day, says Dr Sim

KUCHING, July 8: Sarawak has administered more than 70,000 doses of Covid-19 in a single day yesterday, says State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) advisor Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian.

He gathered that Sarawak has administered 72,971 doses of Covid-19 vaccine on July 7; the highest number of doses administered so far in Sarawak.


“We have moved beyond 70,000 in our single-day total – Sarawak has administered 72,971 doses of Covid-19 vaccine yesterday,” Dr Sim said in a Facebook post today.

According to information from the Special Committee on Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV), there were a total of 72,971 doses of Covid-19 vaccine administered in Sarawak as at July 7; a record high for the State.

They comprised 29,137 recipients for the first dose and 43,834 recipients for the second dose.

As of July 7, JKJAV said a total of 1.283 million people have been jabbed with the first dose which represented 45.6 per cent of the population and 401,408 people have completed two doses which represented 14.3 per cent of the population.

In total, there were 1.685 million doses administered for the first and second doses in Sarawak.

Meanwhile, Sarawak continues to lead the table among all the states in Malaysia with the most number of people who completed the first dose of vaccination.

On the other hand, there were a total of 375,842 doses administered in Malaysia yesterday which comprised 207,795 for the first dose and 168,047 for the second dose; a new record.

Malaysia administered a cumulative total of 10 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine as of July 7 since the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) began on Feb 24. — DayakDaily
