MIRI, July 11: In the face of ongoing issues especially the price hike of essential goods, the rakyat must stay united regardless of race or religion to build a strong foundation of unity in this multiracial nation.

“As a multiracial nation, we must stand united to protect unity and prosperity,” said Sibuti Member of Parliament Lukanisman Awang Sauni yesterday.

Speaking at the opening of Borneo Evangelical Mission Harvest Church Sungai Dalam, Lusut, he added, like other places of worship, churches play a vital role in bringing people together and building a strong sense of unity.

“Regardless of your belief or religion, we must continue to unite and help those in need to ensure no one is left behind, especially during post-Covid-19, as many are struggling coping with the new challenges of the rising prices of the essential goods,” he said.

Lukanisman added, as an elected representative, the rakyat’s interest has always been his priority.

“We hope that Malaysia’s economy restores and places more focus on the Rakyat,” he said.

At the event, Lukanisman also announced a grant worth RM20,000 for Borneo Evangelical Mission Harvest Church Sungai Dalam.

Also present at the programme was Cr Jeffery Phang who represented Minister of Transport Sarawak-cum-Senadin assemblyman Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin. — DayakDaily
