KUCHING, May 30: The Madani government remains committed to ensuring Sabah and Sarawak receive equitable and sustainable development benefits in the spirit of togetherness, unity and shared prosperity.
In a special message marking the Kaamatan and Gawai celebrations, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the commitment must be translated into better educational opportunities, quality healthcare access, comprehensive basic infrastructure development and a more dignified life for the people of both States.
“Kaamatan and Gawai celebrations are thanksgiving festivals rooted in the traditions and heritage of the peoples of Sabah and Sarawak.
“They are celebrated with meaningful expressions of togetherness, unity and gratitude for the blessings of the land’s harvest,” he said in a post shared on his social media today.
Anwar emphasised that the values embodied by Kaamatan and Gawai reflect the foundations of national unity and social cohesion, which continue to be vital in maintaining harmony across the country.
“Within the diversity of traditions, languages and cultures that colour our nation, these celebrations remind us that Malaysia’s strength lies in its ability to maintain harmony in diversity, strengthen the spirit of brotherhood and nurture a culture of mutual respect,” he said.
Anwar also extended his Kaamatan and Gawai greetings to the people of Sabah and Sarawak.
“I wish everyone in Sabah and Sarawak a Kotobian Tadau Tagazo Do Kaamatan and Gayu Guru Gerai Nyamai. May these celebrations bring prosperity, blessings and further strengthen the spirit of consensus and togetherness that forms the cornerstone of harmony in our beloved Malaysia,” he said. — DayakDaily
