KUCHING, June 9: Sarawak has once again secured a place in the Malaysia Book of Records (MBR), with the Sarawak Transformation and Innovation Unit (STIU) under the Sarawak Premier’s Department receiving two prestigious recognitions that underscore the State government’s commitment to modern governance and excellence in public service delivery.
According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), the recognitions were awarded under the categories of ‘First Public Service Agency With A Sustainable Framework’ for the development of the SCS-NEXT sustainability framework, and ‘The First Integrated Public Sector Excellence Certification Ecosystem By A State Government in Malaysia’ for establishing a comprehensive public sector certification ecosystem.
The certificates were presented by an MBR representative to STIU director Superi Awang Said before being handed over to Deputy State Secretary (Operations) Datu Hii Chang Kee during a ceremony at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here today.
Speaking at the event, Hii said the achievement should be viewed not merely as a record-setting milestone but as a reflection of the Sarawak Civil Service’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the quality and effectiveness of public service delivery.
He said the SCS-NEXT sustainability framework was developed as a strategic initiative to ensure that transformation and innovation efforts across the State are implemented consistently and sustainably.
“The framework establishes sustainability standards for all innovation and transformation projects throughout Sarawak,” he said.
Hii added that sustainability has become a key focus of the Sarawak government across various sectors, including energy and natural resources, in line with the State’s civil service transformation agenda.
Meanwhile, he described the integrated certification ecosystem as a strategic mechanism for strengthening evidence-based performance assessments while enhancing public confidence in the capabilities and professionalism of the civil service.
The implementation of both initiatives is expected to streamline administrative processes, reduce bureaucracy, and improve the efficiency, responsiveness and outcome-driven delivery of government services.
The achievement is also seen as a testament to the collective efforts and accomplishments of the Sarawak Civil Service as a whole. — DayakDaily
