Strong winds rip roofs, topple trees in Miri and Limbang

MIRI, Sept 17: Several locations in Miri and Limbang experienced incidents of roofs being ripped off and trees falling due to strong winds today.

According to Sarawak’s Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), at 1.33pm, violent winds ripped off the roof of a house on Jalan Lusut 3, which landed in an open space about three metres away.

A similar incident occurred in Kampung Pangkalan Lutong at 6.10pm, where the roof of a kitchen collapsed, with part of it blown 50 metres from the house.

A roof collapsed and hit a car at a house in RPR Batu Niah in Limbang following strong winds on Sept 17, 2024.

Meanwhile, in RPR Batu Niah, Limbang, a roof structure collapsed and struck a car parked in front of the residence at 6pm.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in any of the incidents.

Firefighters from Miri, Lutong, and Limbang stations responded to the emergencies, assessed the situations, and ensured the safety of all affected areas before concluding their operations. — DayakDaily
