MLNG advances rural education through Bestari Outreach Programme at SK Nanga Tau

KUCHING, April 24: Malaysia LNG Sdn Bhd (MLNG), a subsidiary of PETRONAS, continues its commitment in empowering rural education through its Bestari Outreach Programme at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Nanga Tau, Sungai Anap.

According to a report by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), the programme, which took place yesterday, is part of the ‘PETRONAS Empowering Knowledge: Powering Knowledge’ initiative which aims to help improve the level of education in the rural areas of Sarawak.

During the ceremony, Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department and Kakus assemblyman (ADUN), Dato Sri John Sikie Tayai commended MLNG’s meaningful contributions toward rural development.

“Through programmes like MLNG Bestari, we can continue to open up space and ensure that our children in rural areas can enjoy quality educational opportunities without feeling left out.

“I am confident that, with the support of all parties, we can produce a young generation who are knowledgeable, have integrity and are competitive,” he said.

He added, MLNG through this programme has channeled various forms of assistance in the form of learning equipment including smart televisions, public address systems, cupboards, chairs and sportswear to SK Nanga Tau.

“I was also informed that MLNG has played an important role in channeling various forms of assistance to rural schools such as in Roban, Betong and Dalat.

“I hope that this contribution can ease the burden on the school and improve the quality of daily life and learning,” he said.

John Sikie also expressed his gratitude to the teachers for their dedication and determination in educating children in rural areas. In recognition of these collective effort, he announced a RM15,000 Minor Rural Project (MRP) grant for SK Nanga Tau’s Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG). – DayakDaily
