Sarawak taekwondo athletes clinch Poomsae team Grand Champions trophy at national meet

KUCHING, March 5: Sarawak Taekwondo Association (WTF) athletes secured a total of six gold, five silver, and two bronze medals at the 14th TM (WTF)–NSC–Milo International Taekwondo Championship 2024 held in Kuala Lumpur over the weekend.

Association president Azizul Annuar Adenan, expressed his admiration for the remarkable accomplishments and overall performance of the local representatives, according to a press release.


“Their total medal feat has led Sarawak team to the Grand Champion Poomsae event,” he said, adding that they had also secured a Challenge trophy following the spectacular performance.

Among the medal-winning athletes, Randy Owen Augustine Linggi claimed gold in ‘Recognised poomsae over 17 years mix pair’ and bronze in ‘Recognised poomsae male 18-30 years individual’, while Chin Kew Haw won two gold in ‘Freestyle poomsae male over 17 years individual’ and ‘Freestyle poomsae over 17 years mix pair’, and two silver medals in ‘Recognised poomsae male 18-30 years individual’ and ‘Recognised poomsae 18-30 years mix pair’.

Meanwhile, in the female categories, Nur Humairah Abdul Karim excelled with two gold (‘Recognised poomsae female 18-30 years individual’ and ‘Freestyle poomsae over 17 years mix pair’) and one silver (‘Recognised poomsae 18-30 years mix pair’), Seah Jing Ying secured a gold (‘Recognised poomsae over 17 years mix pair’) and silver (‘Recognised poomsae female 18-30 years individual’), and Farah Nabilla Madarrus earned a silver (‘Freestyle poomsae over 17 years female individual’) and bronze (‘Recognised poomsae female 18-30 years individual’).

Also among the representing athletes were Azmin Akhram Zulkipli, Allexandre Axcell Juntan, Jeff Lim, and Mohd Isshahril Mazlan.

Guiding the team was Grand Master Tan Check Joon, with support from team manager Tan Cheng Qiang, and coaching expertise provided by Duong Thi Huynh Mai, Nguyen Thi Mong Quynh, and Purim Purintaphiban. — DayakDaily
