KUCHING, March 5: Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar wants the army’s ground force to be restructured in terms of areas of responsibility so that it aligns with the functions and tasks to be carried out.

According to a Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) news report, this was revealed by the Army’s Eastern Field Command (PMTTD) commander, Lieutenant General Datuk Mohd Sofi Md Lepi, during a courtesy call on Wan Junaidi at Astana Negeri today.

The aim of Mohd Sofi’s visit was to formally introduce himself to the Sarawak governor and to update him on the State’s security situation, especially along the border areas.

“We have also given an overview of development in terms of infrastructure and the military equipment we have so that he (Wan Junaidi) gets a clear picture of how we carry out our duties and missions in Sarawak.

“Alhamdulillah, he also gave some advice and guidance on how the ground forces can carry out their duties more effectively,” he said.

Meanwhile, Wan Junaidi also received a courtesy call from the Kaul Mukah 2024 organising committee led by its chairman, Abdul Yakub Arbi.

The purpose of the visit was to invite Wan Junaidi to the closing ceremony of the festival and Hari Raya Aidilfitri programme at the Kaul festival site in Mukah on April 28. — DayakDaily
