KUCHING, Jan 12: Regent of Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has announced his upcoming visit to Sarawak from Jan 15 to 19.

“Dear Sarawakians. I am on the way,” he shared the exciting news on his personal Instagram Reels on @this.7 yesterday (Jan 11).

The post quickly went viral, eliciting enthusiastic responses from Sarawakians eager to welcome him back.

According to a news report by TVS, the scheduled programmes during the visit include a briefing on the development of carbon capture and storage in Sarawak, along with a meeting with the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Tengku Hassanal’s previous visit to Sarawak was part of the ‘Kembara Kenali Borneo’ road tour, undertaken alongside his parents, their Majesties Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, in September last year.

The royal entourage, which included Tengku Panglima Raja Colonel Tengku Amir Nasser Ibrahim Shah and Tengku Ahmad Ismail Mu’adzam Shah, received a warm reception throughout their journey from Lawas to Kuching.

Thousands of people lined the streets at various stops to meet and greet the Royal family, known for their humility.

During the Kembara Kenali Borneo tour, Tengku Hassanal was particularly engaging, using a mini handheld megaphone to address the crowd and was playfully teased by the King about his single status. He also extended gestures of friendliness, shaking hands and taking selfies with the people.

Kembara Kenali Borneo was held for the first time to realise the dream of the King and Queen to traverse the Pan Borneo Highway and connect with the communities in Sabah and Sarawak.

The 11-day trip, which covered a distance of 2,154 kilometres, started in Tawau, Sabah, on Sept 3, 2023, and concluded in Telok Melano, Sarawak, on Sept 13. — DayakDaily
