Plaza Merdeka to host Mid Autumn Festival from Aug 26 to Sept 11

KUCHING, Aug 19: Plaza Merdeka is celebrating Mid Autumn Festival, the second biggest celebration on the Chinese Lunar Calendar, at the shopping mall’s Main Atrium from Aug 26 until Sept 11.

The celebration will complement the hosting of the annual Kuching Intercultural Mooncake Festival at Carpenter Street from Sept 1 until Sept 10.

Plaza Merdeka in a statement today said the celebration will feature various exciting events organised in collaboration with the Lions Club, Kuching Association of Talent Development and Welfare of Special Needs (KATSN), and Divine Will Society.

The nightly art exhibition will features extraordinary artworks by seven amazing and talented artists of KATSN. Members of the public are encouraged to grab a copy of the limited artworks at the exhibition.

There will also be a coloring contest for children on Aug 9 and 10 where those who are interested to participate can contact Ms Priscilla at 012-870 9419 or Mdm Pung at 012-886 5396.

Among others are live performances and stalls selling lanterns, toys, mooncakes, and balloons, ice creams, and crafts.

At the same time, Plaza Merdeka is also celebrating its 10 year anniversary with Lucky Draw’s promotion of prizes up to RM100,000 to giveaway including a TV and the latest iPhone.

Shoppers are entitled to a lucky draw by just spending RM100 at the mall. For amounts over RM1,000, you will be eligible for 10 entries.

Additionally, in line with the State’s Digitalization program and support of the STEM Community, Plaza Merdeka will also be having pocket events that will feature the discipline of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
