KUCHING, July 21: Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) now has skills centres for teachers training, construction and building including gastronomy.
According to MPKS chairman Dato Peter Minos, there is also talk of a beauty centre for grooming and beauty classes for women.
“Hopefully in the future there will be skill centres for the new industries involving oil and gas, hydrogen, green technology, water, oil palm and many others,” he said in a statement today.
Meanwhile, Minos said, a gastronomy skill centre is currently growing and expanding in Kota Samarahan.
Called the Kuching Skill Centre, he said, it is currently training 150 youths.
He also pointed out that all the graduates from the centre are being snapped by local hotels and cafes for jobs.
“I say giving real skills and expertise to our young people is a very good and commendable move.
“Jobs are readily available for them. So MPKS welcomes and support them whenever possible,” he added. — DayakDaily
