May 17 set for opening of Batang Rajang Bridge

KUCHING, April 25: The long-awaited official opening of the Batang Rajang Bridge in Sarikei is scheduled for May 17, 2025, marking a significant milestone in Sarawak’s central region infrastructure network.

Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is expected to officiate the event.

To prepare for this historic occasion, a coordination meeting was held today at the Waterfront Hotel here, chaired by Datuk Aidel Lariwoo, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development Sarawak (Infrastructure Development).

Also present at the meeting was Datuk Len Talif Salleh, Deputy Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administration, and Environment, who is also the assemblyman for Kuala Rajang.

The session brought together key implementing agencies and stakeholders, including Mukah Resident Datu Kueh Leh Poh, Sarikei Deputy Resident Baijuri Bidin, Tanjung Manis District Officer Ismail Kasah, Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC) General Manager Zainal Abidin Abdullah, Rajang Delta Development Agency (Radda) Special Administrative Officer Kelana Kipli, and other relevant government representatives.

The meeting aimed to ensure the smooth coordination of logistics, security, protocol, and program arrangements for the event, which is expected to attract strong local and regional participation. — DayakDaily
