KUCHING, April 25: Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap is leaving nothing to chance when it comes to securing development funds—personally leading comprehensive site inspections today to ensure that Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) allocations are based on accurate costing and real community needs.
Joined by officers from the Public Works Department (JKR), Yap visited key project sites including Jalan Kuching Ranger Depot at 7th Mile and Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Datuk Patinggi Haji Abdul Gapor, where infrastructure upgrades are in the pipeline.
The proposed drainage improvements at Jalan Kuching Ranger Depot are estimated to cost RM1.1 million, while the construction of a new roof over the multipurpose court at SMK DPHA Gapor is expected to cost RM600,000.
“Identifying challenges early will ensure that RTP funds are allocated more precisely, minimising delays and maximising impact and benefits for residents.
“The sites inspected represent areas prioritised for upgrades,” he said in a statement.
The move also reflects a new directive by the Kuching Division Resident’s Office, which now requires preliminary site visits before RTP applications to strengthen transparency and accountability.
Following the inspections, JKR will compile detailed cost analyses to support the RTP funding application by Yap. – DayakDaily
