KUCHING, April 25: Construction has officially begun on Citadines Langit Kuching, a landmark twin-tower development set to transform the city’s skyline and urban lifestyle.
Developed by Hock Seng Lee (HSL), in partnership with Singapore-based hospitality giant The Ascott Limited, the development starts with a two-storey basement and will rise into a 28-storey, 108-metre-tall structure consisting of Tower A with 64 luxury condominiums, and Tower B featuring 220 fifth-generation Citadines serviced residences.

The two towers will be linked by two “floating” clubhouse floors on Levels 4 and 15, each exclusively for condo residents and hotel guests.
Meanwhile, a grand staircase will anchor the lower three floors—with lush landscaping by Singapore’s Salad Dressing—offering one of Kuching’s few privately-owned public spaces. The developer intends to activate this area with children’s playgrounds, concerts, and art installations.

Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng, who officiated the earth-breaking ceremony at the site today, said the presence of international hospitality brands such as Ascott plays an essential role in positioning Kuching on the global map.
“Today, we are proud to welcome the Citadines brand to our city through the launch of Langit—a development that exemplifies forward-thinking urban design harmoniously integrated with the lush greenery for which Hock Seng Lee is widely acclaimed.
“I would like to commend HSL for its exceptional contribution to Kuching’s built environment. Langit sets a new benchmark, not just for Citadines properties in Malaysia, but for the hospitality industry as a whole,” he said.
At the ceremony, Yu Ji, director of Neat Plan–the property division of HSL, gave a detailed presentation on the project to the media.

In summary, Citadines Langit Kuching began as an architectural competition in 2022. The name Langit—Malay for “sky”—symbolises the project’s vision of “reaching for greater heights together.”
HSL assembled an international team of architects, landscape designers, and lighting consultants, including Sarawakians working abroad, to bring the twin-tower concept to life.
Among them are Light Collab, the lighting consultant behind the Singapore Pavilion at World Expo 2020, Park Royal Collection Marina Bay, and Books Kinokuniya Abu Dhabi; and Salad Dressing, a landscape architecture firm headed by Malaysians practising in Singapore, best known for projects such as Jurong Lake Garden, Aman Tokyo, and resorts in the Maldives.
Additionally, Ascott’s in-house design team will be responsible for the hotel interiors, incorporating Sarawak’s cultural elements, such as Dayak motifs and Kuching’s city map.
Also present were Sarawak’s Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (MTCP) deputy permanent secretary Desmond Douglas Jerukan, Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) senior director Maurice Balang, Sarawak Tourism Federation (STF) president Audrey Wan Ullok, Ascott Malaysia General Manager Mondi Mecja, and lead architect David Ong.
HSL is aiming for completion in 48 months.
Sales of Langit condominiums are expected to begin in late 2026, with an average price of RM1,000 per square foot. A dedicated sales gallery will be set up at La Promenade Mall, similar to HSL’s Jigsaw project opposite Kuching International Airport.
