KUCHING, March 22: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) have gone the extra mile to bring cheer to Muslim residents in conjunction with the holy month of Ramadan.
A total of 200 asnaf (poor) children as well as representatives from 19 suraus/mosques under MBKS jurisdiction area were treated to a delicious feast at a breaking-of-fast ceremony during MBKS Ihya Ramadan programme held at MBKS Community Hall here earlier tonight.
During the event, MBKS mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng presented Hari Raya financial aid worth RM150 each to 200 asnaf children from 15 villages namely Kpg Tabuan Lama, Kpg Tabuan Lot, Kpg Tabuan Tengah, Kpg Tabuan Hilir, Kpg Tabuan Lot Ulu Dani, Kpg Tabuan Cemerlang, Tabuan Park, Kpg Kenyalang, Kpg Stutong Melayu, Kpg Tabuan Haji Drahman, Kpg Wan Alwi, Kpg Lumba Kuda, Kpg Simpang Tiga, Kpg Sg Periok, and Kpg Sri Maimunah.
He also presented financial aid worth RM700 each to 19 suraus/mosques namely Masjid Darul Barakah of BDC, Masjid Darul Falah of Kpg Tabuan Haji Drahman, Masjid Wan Alwi of Tabuan Jaya, Masjid Darussaadah of Tabuan Melayu, Masjid Darul Ittihad of Kenyalang Park, Masjid Darul Akhirat of Kpg Lumba Kuda, Surau Darul Ibadah of Jln Mendu, Surau Darul Hassan of Kpg Sg Periok, Surau Nurul Hidayah of Kpg Cemerlang, Surau Darussalam of Tabuan Lot, Surau Darul Salihin of Tabuan Tengah, Masjid Darul Hajat of Tabuan Hilir, Surau Darul Hassanah of Tabuan Lot No.3, Surau Darul Cemerlang of Tabuan Cemerlang, Surau Darul Ibadah of Kpg Sri Maimunah, Surau Al Mukhalis of Kpg Stutong Melayu, Surau Darul Fattah of Tabuan Park Flat, Masjid Al-Muhajidin of PDRM Complex and Surau Darul Taqwa of Jabatan Laut Wilayah.
At the event, Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS) also contributed a set of prayer carpet, telekung (prayerwear) and Tafsir of Quran for each mosque and surau as well as gifts for the Asnaf children.
