Manhunt launched after 72yo grandmother, grandson tied up by burglars in Miri

MIRI, March 22: Police in Miri have initiated a manhunt for suspects involved in a robbery on Thursday morning, where a 72-year-old grandmother and her 10-year-old grandson were tied up during the intrusion.

The incident, which occurred at 4.15am on March 21, left the victims bound in their own home, situated in Ocean Park, Miri.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported during the ordeal.


Cash and valuables estimated at RM50,000 were stolen during the incident.

Miri OCPD ACP Alexson Naga Chabu confirmed receiving a report on the incident when contacted today.

The perpetrators reportedly broke into the property, tied up the victims while they ransacked the premises for valuables before making off with the items, leaving both victims in a state of shock and disbelief.

A police investigation is currently underway to arrest the suspects and recover the stolen goods.

In a related incident just one day prior, a house break-in was reported in the Hilltop residential area.

Authorities are currently probing any potential connections between the two cases.

The case is being investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code. — DayakDaily
