MUKAH, April 25: The RM16.39 million construction of teacher housing and additional facilities at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Agama Igan was successfully completed on Dec 30, more than a year ahead of schedule.

Minister of Works Malaysia, Dato’ Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi, emphasised that this accomplishment is a testament to the efficiency and dedication of the project team and local contractors in aligning with the Madani government’s priorities, which emphasise timely completion rather than extensions.

Originally scheduled for completion by the end of this year, the project included the construction of 17 Class F teacher housing units, along with water supply and drainage systems, electrical services, information and communication technology (ICT), both covered and open parking areas, as well as outdoor infrastructure and other supporting facilities.

“Congratulations and thank you to all stakeholders involved, especially JKR, the contractor, the consultant, and the school community,” he commended.

During the same ceremony, Nanta also presented a RM10,000 contribution to the Parents and Teachers Association (PIBG) of SMK Agama Igan to support the school community’s development.

“May these facilities and contributions provide greater comfort for educators and foster a more conducive learning environment for the children of Sarawak,” he added. — DayakDaily
