On the first day (Aug 9), there will be a symposium taking place from 8am to 5pm.

Presenting the papers are two speakers from Kalimantan, Indonesia, two from Sabah and three from Sarawak. The forum will end up with a question-and-answer (Q&A) session.

Meanwhile, the hall next to the symposium will accommodate booths for sales exhibition comprising a collection of artworks from Tribal Cultures and Traditional Knowledge. There will also be on-the-job demonstration of how the artwork is done.

On the second day (Aug 10), there will be a cultural night organised to showcase cultural performances from various indigenous groups, inclusive from Sabah and Indonesia.

The expected participants from Sabah are mainly the members of BDF, Kadazan Dusun Cultural Association (KDCA) and Sabah Native Affairs Council (MHEANS), to be led by Deputy Chief Minister of Sabah and BDF president Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Jeffrey Kitingan.

The Indonesian delegation would comprised members of Majelis Adat Dayak Nasional (MADN) and Dewan Adat Dayak (DAD) to be led by MADN president Marthin Billa.

DNC believes that the event has great potential to create high impact with far-reaching effects and implication particularly on Indigenous Peoples’ unity, sustainability and beyond.

“As the preparation is still a work-in-progress the detailed program could not be furnished yet,” it said.
