Heavy rain, strong winds forecasted for Kuching, Samarahan, several areas in Sarawak until 4pm (May 4)

KUCHING, May 4: A thunderstorm warning has been issued for several areas in Sarawak this afternoon by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

Anticipated weather conditions include thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds affecting Kuching (Kuching), Samarahan (Samarahan), Betong (Saratok and Kabong), Sarikei (Pakan and Sarikei), Mukah (Tanjung Manis), and Miri. The warning, which was issued at 1pm today, will remain in effect until 4pm.

“A warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with a rain intensity greater than 20 mm/hour that is approaching or expected to last for more than an hour. A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning that is valid for a maximum of six hours per release,” it highlighted. — DayakDaily
