Health DG: 1,304 new cases, four new clusters identified

KUCHING, Nov 13: Ministry of Health (MOH) disclosed a total of 1,304 new cases of positive Covid-19 were recorded in the country as of today, with four new clusters identified.

According to MOH director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, from the total number of new cases recorded, four of the cases were imported cases, which is recorded in Selangor (three cases) and Kuala Lumpur (one case), involving Malaysian returning from Saudi Arabia (three cases) and Egypt (one case).

“Sabah recorded highest number of new cases with 556 cases, follow by Selangor with 364 cases, Kuala Lumpur (201), Negeri Sembilan (83), Pulau Pinang (42), Sarawak (13), Perak (13), Melaka (13), Kedah (five), Kelantan (five), Labuan (four), and Johor (three), while Perlis, Pahang and Terengganu reported zero new cases.


“This brings the total cumulative number of positive Covid-19 cases in the country to 45,095 cases,” said Dr. Noor Hisham during the daily press conference on Covid-19 development in the country, today.

He added the four new clusters were identified in four states, namely the Bonggaya cluster (46 individuals) and Jambatan B cluster (53 individuals) in Sabah, the Abell cluster (13 individuals) in Sarawak and the BMU cluster (10 individuals) in Melaka.

On another note, Dr. Noor Hisham revealed a total of 900 cases involving positive Covid-19 have also recovered and discharged from the hospital throughout the country today.

“However, one death was also recorded in Tuaran Hospital in Sabah, involving a 70-year old Malaysian (case number 42, 308) with a history of high blood pressure.

“This brings the total number of deaths involving Covid-19 in the country to 304 cases (0.07 percent), and currently a total of 96 cases are being treated in the hospital intensive care unit (ICU), with 39 of them being put under respiratory assistance,” he said. –DayakDaily.
