Sarawak registers 1,126 new Covid-19 cases with 10 in critical condition

KUCHING, Oct 9: Sarawak has recorded 1,126 new Covid-19 cases today, of which 10 have been categorised as being in critical condition.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement said of the 10 cases, three patients (0.27 per cent) are in Category 3 who have developed pneumonia but can still breathe on their own, four patients (0.36 per cent) are in Category 4 who need oxygen supply, while three Category 5 patients (0.27 per cent) require ventilator support.

Meanwhile, the remaining 1,116 new cases or 99.11 per cent are in Category 1 (no symptoms) and Category 2 (mild symptoms).

“There are 207 cases (18.38 per cent) in Category 1, while 909 cases (80.73 per cent) are in Category 2,” it said.

SDMC also mentioned that Kuching district took the lead in the number of cases with 315, followed by Miri (195), Sibu (117), Bintulu (56), Bau (54), Mukah (38), Sarikei (37), Limbang (36), Serian (35), Samarahan (30), Bukit Mabong (28), Betong (26) and Sri Aman (25).

Districts registering less than 20 new cases are Saratok (19), Kapit (15), Asajaya (15), Beluru (11), Marudi (8), Subis (8), Tanjung Manis (7), Lubok Antu (7), Lundu (6), Pusa (6), Selangau (5), Pakan (4), Dalat (4), Meradong (3), Matu (3), Kanowit (2), Belaga (2), Tebedu (2), Julau (2), Telang Usan (2), Kabong (1), Tatau (1) and Sebauh (1).

Four districts, namely Lawas, Daro, Simunjan and Song, did not record any new cases today. — DayakDaily
