KUCHING, Aug 27: Strengthening cooperation in the accreditation of engineering programmes, particularly by helping Asia-Pacific member countries navigate the accreditation process, will be among the key areas of focus at the Federation of Engineering Institutions of Asia and the Pacific (FEIAP) General Assembly and Convention here next month.
Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) Sarawak chairman Ir Dr Angelia Liew San Chuin said the initiative would enable countries requiring support to benefit from the experience and practices of other member nations.
“Many countries need support to go through the accreditation process. We will guide them and share the practices and systems implemented in our country,” she said as reported by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas).
She was speaking to reporters after a media and strategic partners briefing on the FEIAP event here today.
Liew said the convention would also provide a platform to showcase Sarawak’s engineering capabilities and projects to FEIAP members.
She said this would be done through panel sessions featuring local speakers, who would share insights into major engineering projects and developments in Sarawak.
“This will also allow us to introduce Sarawak more closely to FEIAP members and give them a better understanding of the engineering work and projects being undertaken here,” she said.
In addition to the annual FEIAP General Assembly, this year’s programme will feature the inaugural World Engineering Congress and Exhibition, aimed at promoting the engineering profession and highlighting developments and opportunities in the field.
The FEIAP General Assembly and Convention will be held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) from Sept 2 to 4.
Nearly 200 delegates from across the Asia-Pacific region are expected to attend, together with about 500 local delegates, bringing total participation to around 700 people. — DayakDaily
