KUCHING, July 29: The Sarawak Science Centre (SSCiEX) will serve as a resource hub for teachers as well as students by providing interactive learning tools aimed at strengthening science education across the State.
According to Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development (MEITD) Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, the Centre is designed to complement classroom learning by equipping educators with resources while giving students hands-on exposure to science beyond textbooks.
He said the Centre would connect young Sarawakians with opportunities in robotics, coding, biotechnology and renewable energy, exposing them to technologies that are expected to play an increasingly important role in the State’s future economy.
“By nurturing talent at every level, we are laying the foundation for Sarawak’s innovation-driven economy,” he said in his welcoming speech at the launch of the Sarawak Science Centre (SSCiEX) today.
The minister said the Centre reflects the State government’s commitment under the Post-Covid Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030) to integrate science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education and innovation into Sarawak’s development agenda.
“The facility also aims to make science more accessible to the wider community by providing a welcoming space where educators, learners and members of the public can discover how science enriches everyday life,” he added.
Roland also recognised the support of international partners, particularly Science Centre Singapore, for contributing expertise towards the Centre’s masterplan, expressing confidence that continued collaboration would further strengthen STEM education in Sarawak. — DayakDaily
