KUCHING, Oct 5: PBB supreme council member Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said he just could not comprehend the rationale behind PKR president Anwar Ibrahim’s obsession to be the ninth prime minister amidst the spike of Covid-19 cases in the country.

He said Anwar should be conscientious enough to know and be able to read the signs of the time.

“Firstly, we are facing a spike in Covid-19 cases. So, the least he can do now is not to be too obsessed to be the next prime minister.

“If Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s government loses its majority in Parliament, he will then advise the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to call for a snap election. And after that, we must have election within 60 days. Now the question is, is he not caring enough to see the problem that we are facing amidst the spike in Covid-19 cases throughout the country?

“I just can’t comprehend his obsession to be a prime minister,” the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) leader told DayakDaily when contacted today.

Additionally, Wan Junaidi who is also the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives pointed out that since Covid-19 has struck Malaysia, the national economy needs to be rebuilt.

“So, during this difficult and challenging time. we must try to build up our battered economy. We must focus on the rakyat and less on politics. This is just not the right time for such speculations and talks of taking over the government,” he added.

Wan Junaidi, who is also the Santubong MP was commenting on the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president’s claim that he has the majority in Parliament and was reportedly ready to take over as the next prime minister.

On Sarawak’s state election, Wan Junaidi said he leaves it to Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Tun Openg to decide the best timing to hold it.

“He is a veteran politician. We trust him to decide when is the best time to call for the state election,” he said.

The current term of the Sarawak Legislative Assembly will automatically expire in June next year. — DayakDaily
