KUCHING, Sept 10: Rainfall across parts of Sarawak on Tuesday evening (Sept 9) has brought some relief from the haze, with most areas recording Air Pollutant Index (API) readings below 200 as of 6am today.
According to data from the Natural Resources and Environment Board (NREB), Serian and Lundu have moved out of the hazardous category, with both districts registering API readings below 200.
Lundu recorded the most significant improvement, with its API reading dropping from 233 at 8am yesterday to 187 as of 6am today.
Serian also saw conditions improve, with its reading declining from 212 to 191 over the same period.
Elsewhere, air quality remained in the unhealthy category across much of the State. Kuching recorded an API reading of 174, followed by Samarahan (183), Sri Aman (158), Sarikei (192), Sibu (156), Mukah (153), Bintulu (121), Samalaju (164), Tebedu (165), Lubok Antu (171), Kanowit (157) and Betong (160).
Meanwhile, Miri, ILP Miri and Lawas have improved to the moderate category, joining Kapit and Limbang, which have maintained API readings below 100 over the past several days.
Bario continued to enjoy good air quality, recording an API reading of just 13. – DayakDaily
