DALAT, Oct 5: Police believe that they have solved the theft of building materials for the Pan Borneo Highway project following the arrest of a three-member gang.

Dalat district police chief, DSP Saga Chunggat revealed today that police have also seized the stolen items which include iron rods and cables from the suspects.

The three suspects were apprehended in Sibu following a tip-off from the public over the weekend.

“The theft was reported in Dalat on Aug 18 this year by a site foreman working with the construction company in KM49 Pan Borneo Highway. Loss was estimated at about RM10,000,” he added.

The first suspect was apprehended by the public and later handed over to the police.

This led to the arrest of two more suspects. A lorry carrying the stolen items which included iron rods and cables were also confiscated.

“With the arrest of the suspects, we believed that we have solved the case of stolen property belonging to sub-contractors along the Pan-Borneo Stapang/Selanggau area,” Saga disclosed.
