SIBU, Sept 9: The Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bawang Assan Branch has gone door-to-door in Tanjung Kunyit to hear first-hand from residents about infrastructure and safety woes affecting their daily lives.
Branch chairman councillor Kevin Lau Kor Jie said the ground-level engagement provided a clearer picture of problems faced by residents and helped identify issues that might otherwise go unnoticed.
“House-to-house visits allow us to better understand the practical problems residents face and identify community concerns that may have been overlooked,” he said after leading the visit here on Tuesday (Sept 8), as reported by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas).
Lau said all feedback gathered would be documented and channelled to the relevant authorities for assessment and follow-up action.
Among the issues raised were poor mobile phone coverage, sagging electrical cables, potholes and inadequate safety facilities.
“These may seem like basic issues, but they have a direct impact on residents’ daily lives and deserve continued attention,” he said.
Lau added that SUPP Bawang Assan would continue its field visits to ensure residents’ concerns were properly brought to the attention of the relevant authorities.
Also present were councillors Yong Ing Hock, Kapitan Chew Hoo Kiong, Penghulu Yong King Sung and Kapitan Ting Siew Kiew.
