KUCHING, Sept 2: The recent outbreak of dengue cases in Bayor Bukit near Tabuan Jaya, reported two weeks ago, has now been brought under control.
Nonetheless, Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng of the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) has urged the public to remain vigilant by regularly inspecting their property for stagnant water.
“Remove water from containers or materials that can collect water to prevent mosquitoes from breeding.
“The current hot weather could potentially lead to a surge in dengue cases. The public must take proactive measures to guard against the mosquito-borne disease,” he advised during his ShallWeeTalk online session with the community today.
He noted that the air quality in Kuching especially has remained at a moderate level, scoring between 70 to 80 points today.
“Stay healthy during this period. Stay well-hydrated by drinking plenty of water,” he reminded.
Wee is currently in Japan, participating in the United Nations Centre for Regional Development (UNCRD) International Training Workshop on smart cities for building inclusive, resilient, and sustainable cities and communities. — DayakDaily
