KUCHING, Sept 20: A total of 31 primary schools in Lawas will receive Raspberry Pi computer in phases to ensure that students get the right education in line with current technological developments.
According to a news report from Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) today, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said this is part of Sarawak government’s efforts to develop human capital in the State, as well as providing training for students and teachers.
āTo ensure that the effort can be achieved, Sarawak government strives to improve the internet access in rural and urban areas, including improving the existing facilities,ā he said.
Awang Tengah pointed out that several projects and programmes have been planned and ready to be implemented to further enhance internet connectivity throughout the State.
However, he said, due to Movement Control Order (MCO) implementation, all the works have been put on halt.
āWe will continue this effort when the situation permitted,ā he assured.
On November last year, Education, Science and Technological Research Minister Datuk Amar Michael Manyin Jawong announced that Sarawak government has allocated RM12 million to provide Raspberry Pi computer to all 1,265 primary schools in Sarawak with the aim to provide internet connection to rural schools. ā DayakDaily
