KUCHING, March 13: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) believes there is still ample room for discussion with Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) regarding the party’s decision to contest in the upcoming 13th Sarawak Election (PRN13), says PKR Women’s chief Fadhlina Sidek.

Fadhlina stressed that any decision made by PKR Sarawak must prioritise strengthening the unity government, which is built on cooperation between the federal and Sarawak governments.

“I believe we still have a lot of space for dialogue. As I mentioned earlier, our main focus is to strengthen the unity government.

“Therefore, any decision must be based on mutual consultation among all parties,” she told reporters when met at an iftar programme with PKR Women branches at Serapi Hotel here today.

She added that PKR remains committed to preserving political stability and respecting the views of all coalition partners, while ensuring the unity government remains intact until the next term.

Victoria Musa

Meanwhile, PKR Sarawak Women’s Chief Victoria Musa said the Women’s Wing already has potential candidates to be fielded in the upcoming election.

However, she stressed that the decision to contest fully depends on the party’s central leadership.

“Of course, we already have names. But we must follow the party’s central leadership. We will wait for the president’s decision.

“If the president says contest, we will contest. If not, we will wait (sic).

“What’s most important is the welfare of the people. If contesting leads to political instability, it will affect the people. At the end of the day, the people come first,” she said.

Victoria also confirmed that PKR Sarawak Women will not act ahead of the party’s decision and will wait for further instructions from the leadership.

On February 24, Pakatan Harapan (PH) Sarawak chairman Chong Chieng Jen confirmed that PKR Sarawak will contest in the upcoming State Election. – DayakDaily
