25 cops under Kuching District face action for various offences including corruption, drugs last year

KUCHING, Dec 13: A total of 25 police officers in Kuching District faced disciplinary actions over the past year for various offenses, including corruption and drug-related charges.

Kuching District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner (ACP) Ahsmon Bajah revealed that among these individuals, four were senior officers, 20 were officers of other ranks, and one was a civil servant.

Furthermore, three officers were terminated from their positions between 2021 and 2023, as reported by TVS news.


“Among the 25 individuals, four were implicated in corruption and drug-related offenses, while six were involved in Shariah violations and others,” Ahsmon said during a press conference after officiating at the closing ceremony of the Integrity and Mental Health Programme at the Kuching District Police Headquarters (IPD) here today.

He revealed that an additional 133 officers faced disciplinary measures for misconduct during their duty.

“These actions were related to non-compliance with standard operating procedures (SOP), deficiencies in task performance, skills, and self-discipline, as well as inappropriate interactions with community members lodging complaints,” he explained.

Emphasising continuous monitoring, Ahsmon affirmed that strict measures would be consistently enforced to ensure services based on integrity and good governance.

“This commitment aligns with the directives of Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain,” he added.

Regarding today’s programme which was held for the first time, Ahsmon highlighted its important role as an ongoing initiative to enhance the integrity and mental well-being of police officers, members, and civil servants. — DayakDaily
