KUCHING, May 28: A total of 16 sacrificial cows have been contributed across the Santubong parliamentary constituency in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration this year.
Federal Minister for Women, Family and Community Development, Dato Sri Nancy Shukri, said the contributions reflected the continued spirit of sharing and caring among the community and strategic partners.
“Alhamdulillah, this year, a total of 16 sacrificial cows have been successfully contributed within the Santubong parliamentary constituency through the cooperation of various caring and committed parties in making this community welfare programme a success,” she said when speaking at the Majlis Ibadah Korban 1447H for the P193 Santubong parliamentary level held at Kampung Bintawa Hilir today.
She further said that three cows were slaughtered during today’s programme, with the meat distributed to villagers in the Jakaseh Zone involving 15 recipient villages.
“The remaining 13 sacrificial cows have been distributed in stages to several other areas under the Santubong parliamentary constituency involving areas in DUN Pantai Damai — namely the Jakata and Jaksa zones — as well as DUN Demak Laut involving the Bako and Tabuan zones,” she added.
Nancy also expressed appreciation to contributors including Ancom Nylex Berhad, Perdana Petroleum Sdn Bhd, Hyraxx Oil Sdn Bhd and Shapadu Sdn Bhd through Yayasan Kebajikan Negara (YKN) for supporting this year’s korban programme.
According to her, the contributions not only helped facilitate the implementation of the korban programme but also brought joy and benefits to those in need within the Santubong area.
Meanwhile, Nancy also announced several development efforts for Kampung Bintawa Hilir, including the successful upgrading of the village JKKK hall.
She said village leaders had met her in 2024 to request for the upgrading works as the previous building, which housed Tabika Kemas children, was unsafe and uncomfortable due to poor toilet conditions, an outdated kitchen and damaged wooden flooring.
“Syukur Alhamdulillah, the JKKK hall has now been fully upgraded and can soon be used by the Tabika Kemas children. It is pleasing to see a new and comfortable building ready for use,” she said.
She also said efforts would be made to repair the roof of Masjid Darul Islam Bintawa Hilir in coordination with the Sarawak State Development Office (SDO).
In addition, Nancy announced allocations of RM8,000 each for the Kampung Bintawa Hilir JKKK and Masjid Darul Islam Bintawa Hilir to support activities and programmes planned for 2026.
“Use these funds wisely to implement activities that will bring benefits and positive impact to the community,” she said.
The programme was organised by Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (YADIM) Sarawak in collaboration with the Santubong parliamentary office and the Kampung Bintawa Hilir JKKK. — DayakDaily
