KUCHING, Sept 7: Eight gifted artists will take centre stage at Plaza Merdeka this month as The Gifted Art Gallery returns for its fourth edition, showcasing their creativity while promoting greater understanding and inclusion.
Running from Sept 11 to 20, the exhibition will feature Dave Hwang, Steven Hwang, Rachel Lee, Kelvin Li, Alister Sim, Tommy Tie, Darryon Leong and Damian Clarke.
According to a press statement by the Kuching Association of Talent Development and Welfare of Special Needs (KATSN), the gallery provides the artists with a platform to express themselves, showcase their abilities and connect with the wider community.
The programme will feature performances, workshops and other activities alongside the exhibition, including piano and dance presentations, a live portrait drawing session by artist Fook Liew, and performances by the gifted artists and Bocce Club athletes.
The opening ceremony is scheduled for Sept 14 from 2pm to 5pm while activities throughout the programme will include recycled-material craft and healing art workshops, as well as dance and fitness sessions.
A Lantern Making Workshop will be held on Sept 20, while the Sept 19 closing ceremony will feature Aerodance, the Fit Mom Project, Just Dance Kids and other activities.
Visitors will also be able to purchase Gifted Kitchen mooncakes and merchandise featuring works by the participating artists.
The gallery aims to provide greater visibility for gifted individuals while demonstrating their creative abilities and encouraging their participation in the wider community. — DayakDaily
