15 karaoke centre patrons among SOP violators compounded a total of RM102,500 in Sibu

SIBU, July 4: Fifteen persons who patronised a Panbox karaoke centre were among those compounded a total of RM102,500 for violating Movement Control Order’s standard operating procedures (SOP) here yesterday.

The 15 men, aged between 47 to 73, were each compounded RM1,500. The owner of the centre, 66, received a heavier compound of RM10,000

Sibu district police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said an integrated SOP monitoring team went to the centre located at Jalan Wong Nai Siong at 11.4am and found the 15 men gathering in the centre without observing social distancing.


Another SOP monitoring team led by DSP Ariffin Bahar conducted inspections on an electronic firm, a sawmill and a plastic factory in Jalan Ding Lik Kong and Sungai Bidut.

“A total of five compounds were issued to the three premises of RM10,000 each for operating more than 30 per cent capacity.

“Another two compounds of RM10,000 each were also issued for not providing MySejahtera app or log book for workers’ registration at workplace and canteen,” he said.

The compounds were issued under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within the Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2021 for the offence.

They are to pay up within 14 days at the Health Department office. — DayakDaily
