Driver of lorry killed in collision at Mile 13 Sibu-Bintulu Road

SIBU, Sept 29: A collision between two lorries at Mile 13 Sibu-Bintulu Road resulted in the death of a driver today.

The victim has been identified as Kong Sii Cheng, 46, of Jalan Sawi who was killed at the scene due to serious head injuries.

Sibu district police chief, ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the collision happened at 3.05pm when a lorry driven by a 29-year-old man lost control of the vehicle on a hilly section of the road.


“The deceased was believed to be travelling from Stapang to Sibu when suddenly the rear right side of the opposite lorry collided with his lorry on the driver’s side,” he said.

The other driver has been warded at Sibu Hospital for a broken right hip.

“We have not arrested the driver as he is still receiving treatment at the hospital,” said ACP Stanley.

The case is being probed under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
