Woman lodges police report after no feedback from bank over CDM ‘eating’ RM4,950 cash deposit

MIRI, July 5: A 46-year-old woman was shocked when a cash deposit machine (CDM) of a bank along Jalan Miri-Pujut here ‘ate’ her cash amounting to RM4,950.

According to the victim, who lodged a police report over the incident today at Miri Central Police Station (CPS), she had written to and called up the bank informing them about her situation, but has yet to receive any feedback.


“The incident occurred on June 12 (this year) around 1.10pm, and that day I was supposed to deposit a total of RM9,900 into an account belonging to my husband,” she said.

Her first deposit transaction involved cash amounting to RM4,950 succeeded, however, the machine suddenly went off line right after she deposited the remaining sum of RM4,950.

“I waited for about 15 minutes in case the machine came back online but it did not. My money got stuck inside the machine (CDM) and no receipt was given by the machine,” she said.

She and her husband had informed the bank the same day of the incident.

Expressing worry, the complainant said she would be grateful if the matter could be resolved. — DayakDaily
