LAWAS, Sept 15: A two-year defect liability period has been provided to ensure that the new RM183 million Lawas Hospital functions properly and safely.
In a TVS news report, Works Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the period was important given the structures and equipment involved in the construction of the hospital.
At the same time, he said the quality and safety of the hospital would continue to be monitored throughout the period.
“The project was indeed delayed from its original schedule due to various constraints, including during the Covid-19 pandemic. But the good thing today is that we can be proud that the project has been completed.
“Although the project has been completed, it comes with a two-year defect liability period. During this period, if anything is found to be incomplete or not properly finished, the contractor will be responsible for completing the project properly or carrying out the necessary rectification within that period,” he said after the handover ceremony of the Lawas Hospital Project from the Ministry of Works to the Ministry of Health here on Monday (Sept 14).
The hospital is expected to benefit more than 60,000 residents in the Lawas parliamentary constituency, providing them with better and more comfortable access to healthcare facilities.
The project was first implemented on June 30, 2020. — DayakDaily
