Mother, son rescued from Kenyalang Park house fire

KUCHING, Sept 15: A 39-year-old man and his 70-year-old mother were rescued after their house caught fire at Lorong Sim Kheng Hong 2, Kenyalang Park, in the early hours of this morning.

In a report from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), a call was received at 2.58am, and firefighters from the Padungan station were deployed.

The report noted that the fire broke out in a room on the ground floor, measuring approximately 10 x 10 square feet, with 80 per cent of the room affected by fire, while 20 per cent of the living room was affected.

Firefighters conducted firefighting operations using two hose lines from the emergency hose reel and carried out a search and rescue (SAR) operation and found the two victims in a room on the upper floor.

The operation was brought under control at 3.40am and concluded at 4.10am, with firefighters managing to prevent the fire from spreading.

The victims were subsequently handed over to their family members. — DayakDaily
