KUCHING, March 14: Following the recent buzz surrounding a local Chinese man’s reported marriage to two wives in Kuching, which left many Sarawakians and Malaysians puzzled, some internet users decided to reshare the wedding photos of a Malay ‘throuple’ who once went viral in 2021.

Yes, you read that right: a throuple, not a couple. Instead of a typical wedding photography session with two people, this one had three – the groom, the bride, and another bride.

Mohamad Muhidin, a photographer from Sarawak, shared his work on Facebook, just like any other photographer.

The pictures of this unique arrangement, which he photographed, quickly grabbed the interest of internet users.

A recent article on Borneo Network highlighted the viral Facebook post by Mohamad Muhidin, which garnered over 2,500 shares and even elicited a response from the man’s second wife, who was the bride at the ceremony.

“Bismillahirrahmanirrahim, alhamdulillah. Doakan semoga kami bahagia kekal hingga ke jannah. Naik pelamin dengan akak madu Mazlinah Tahaau. Semoga kita bahagia bersama suami tercinta Jafarrudin Morni (Bismillahirrahmanirrahim, alhamdulillah. Pray that we will be happy forever until jannah. Got on the wedding Dais with my sister Mazlinah Tahaau. May we be happy with our beloved husband Jafarrudin Morni),” expressed the Facebook account owner Sieytha Rieytha, who happens to be the man’s second wife.

Meanwhile, Borneo Network noted that according to an article from Siakap Keli, Mazlinah Tahaau, the first wife, was quoted as saying that they were not married at the same time.

She mentioned that she joined her husband’s photography session with his second wife as a memento of the occasion.

Mazlinah further mentioned that the ceremony took place on Dec 2, 2020, at Majma Mall here.

In Malaysia, polygamy, or more specifically polygyny (where a man can have up to four wives), is legally permitted.

However, this is primarily applicable to the Muslim community in the country. — DayakDaily
